Spineless Leadership

our nation wants to be great and be acknowledged by the so called developed nations and join their league. our leaders have many dreams for us and especially for themselves. but definitely they do not behave like the leaders of an upcoming 'great nation'. its a cruel and merciless world out there and only the capable survive. in the world of international politics we must present ourselves as a strong and confident force in order to achieve our ends. does our leadership have that quality or ability? surely not. not at all.

almost all the people of this country suffer from a sort of an infatuation for anything foreign. we think that goods from abroad are much superior to local ones. along with this perception comes the idea that we are inferior or that we are less capable than foreigners. we are proud of our independence and loose no opportunity to harp about our culture and civilization, but our leaders do not behave like the heads of an ancient and self-confident civilization.

in recent times our dealings with China has been disappointing. China claims Arunachal Pradesh as its territory. the Chinese ambassador even had the audacity to state this claim on our land. despite negotiations the Chinese have not softened their stand. they continue to brand us as aggressors and have also been publicly calling for surrendering Arunachal Pradesh. despite all this, the govt. of india and its top brass(read politicians) do not exhibit the spine to stand up to China and refuse their claim. our attitude towards the chinese is becoming increasingly submissive. i don't advocate an aggressive attitude towards our neighbour, but the least we should do is show some firmness in our dealings in this issue.

China is a fast growing nation. its on the way towards becoming a superpower. we are in no way inferior. our growth rate is quite impressive too. at this rate we can proceed towards becoming the third richest nation by 2050. with a little strategic planning and foresight, we can overtake china in growth. hence we need not feel inferior to anyone. we must be firm and bold in our actions. this will make other nations think twice before adopting a tough attitude towards us.
